Dear Parent and Guardians,
On behalf of the Northern Cheyenne Tribal School staff, we would like to welcome our new students and each kindergartener joining us for the first time. It is with great honor and dedication to serve Northern Cheyenne Tribal Schools. There has been much enthusiasm, planning, and construction in preparing for a successful school year.
My name is Mrs. Cook; I will be the Elementary Principal for the school year 2018/2019. I’m an enrolled member of the Northern Cheyenne Nation and speak my native language fluently.
I have taught various grade levels here at Northern Cheyenne Tribal Schools for 23 years and have been in administration for the past 2 years. Currently, this will be my third year serving as an administrator at Northern Cheyenne Tribal Schools. I am looking forward to ensure your student an academically successful school year.
We recognize that in order to be a successful school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.
My goal is to introduce a new math curriculum, to enable strong student proficiency through structured daily instruction, thus enabling students to comprehend problems and understanding solutions. Teachers will align lesson plans according to common core standards and assessments.
Reading is another goal, each student has the potential to comprehend the basics of reading; this is gained by daily routines in building understanding and guided practice. Students build early foundations of reading when they can learn to read with confidence.Assessments will be monitored to ensure student progress and measures.
As the school year draws closer, please do not hesitate to reach out and with any questions you have.
Enjoy the rest the summer!!!
Mrs. Alvera Cook
